Summary: Izumi learns to wake for thunderstorms.

Izumi learned to wake at the sounds of storms after the Elrics moved in. At the crash of thunder, she reached for the unlit candle, and went to Edward and Alphonse's room. "Apprentices!" she barked, and both boys jumped, nearly knocking over their own candle. The flash of lighting at her entrance didn't hurt.
"We were just studying, Master," Edward said, gathering notes. Their eyes were wide in the candlelight.
It was like this every stormy night -- and never on nights with soft rains or clear skies. Izumi walked to the window. The tree in the backyard whipped around like a demented shadow creature to the tattoo of raindrops. "Lot of rain this spring," she said. "The farmers will be happy for the crops. The last few years have been dry."
Edward and Alphonse had made quite a production getting books and papers out. "Clean up this mess, then go to sleep." She didn't note that the squall would be past by the time the boys could be expected to finish. "I'll see you both at breakfast, and after, you can help me weed the garden."
