Folken told himself that everything was for Van. Even as Zaibach prepared for war, he reminded himself it was the Last War, the war that would mean his little brother could grow up never fearing war. Even after Zaibach's army razed Fanelia, he steeled himself like a sawbones operating , telling himself that there had to be blood and pain, to save the world by removing the diseased part.

Unfortunately, he never asked Van his thoughts on the matter. That was the one omission that reflected and amplified all his mistakes regarding Zaibach.
