Thomas couldn't see the ocean, but he smelled the sea breeze coming in through the window. He shifted position on the bed, and Justine stirred in her sleep, her head pillowed in his lap. He ran a hand through her hair, and her face creased into a smile.
"This can't continue," he said. "Emotional disorder or not, you'll eventually give out. You'll turn into a shell of a woman, because of me."
But, she wouldn't leave, even if he said those words to her awake. And, he didn't have the heart to make her.
