A Normal Life [Dresden Files, Thomas & Mouse, PG]
Title: A Normal Life
Series: Dresden Files
Rating: PG
Genre: Vignette
Words: 200
Notes/Warnings: Done for '6 flights of fancy' for [info]12dayschristmas.
Summary: Set a few months after book 6, Thomas vents to Mouse.
Disclaimer: The Dresden Files copyright Jim Butcher and this derivative work was created without permission.

Thomas watched Harry dash out, muttering something about Lieutenant Murphy having a case for him. As for Thomas, he'd been laid off again -- and who knew that someone actually went onto a roof of an office building, anyway? Well, someone besides him and the other secretary. So, there was nothing to do besides stare at the want ads and wait to see if he could spot how Harry kept his apartment so clean.

Mouse sat down at his feet, gazing up with him with soulful eyes. "Right, you probably need a walk, don't you?" Thomas said. The puppy stood up, wagging his tail, and trotted to the door. "You know, Mouse, Harry doesn't know how lucky he has it." Which was true. If Thomas could have a normal relationship -- let alone holding down a steady job, besides idle playboy, but let's not talk about that -- he certainly wouldn't be hemming and hawing about it. "Want to bet he never bothers to tell the police lieutenant he's fond of her?" Mouse just chuffed in response, which Thomas took to mean the dog agreed. "That's two of us, then."
