Dryden decided that the only thing he could give Millerna was a good king and husband, to become the type of man who could lead Asturia.

But, as he travelled through lands war-torn and healing, listening to tales of the queen working as hard as any two men, and staving off other nations besides, and he wondered if any man could be the man his wife deserved, beautiful and brilliant, strong and capable, diplomat and healer and so much more.

But, he also saw scenes of recovery and homecoming, soldiers returning to take up their farms and families and businesses. And he thought some more as he traveled, buying and selling and talking to traders and captains and shopkeepers. And he realized that the only man she deserved was the one she wanted.
